  1. Update: I have not worked on this plugin for ages. Which means I haven't had the time to add support for the new node-based material system introduced in Cinema4D. Because of this I am provided the plugin here, free of charge, for anyone who still might take advantage of its feature set. The latest version (available for download at bottom of first post in this thread) should work on R17 - R21. I haven't tested S22, since not available to me, so feel free to provide feedback if it does. It definitely does not work on R16 and previous, and I do not have any plans to spend time in making it work in those versions of Cinema4D. There is no documentation available, except for the information provided in this thread. If anyone would be interested in providing detailed documentation, be it written or as a video tutorial, feel free to provide a link here. PS. I do want to keep this plugin exclusive to C4DCafé. As such, please do not distribute or upload the plugin anywhere else. Please respect the work of others, and don't claim credit for things you snatched somewhere.

  2. A long while ago I had uploaded a script, but cannot seem to locate it on the C4DCafé anymore. I cannot even locate the whole download section anymore ??? I tried to contact @Igor via PM, but the system mentions he cannot receive any messages (mailbox full maybe?), as such he will not even be notified by the trigger here. For your convenience I am uploading the script here ... (unzip the files into your scripts folder). Hope this helps. Points2Circle.zip

  3. Boris FX just released the standalone version of their software Particle Illusion for free. More details here: https://borisfx.com/products/particle-illusion/ I haven't tried it myself yet, but apparently the entire thing is pretty much fully featured, and has almost no restrictions (even supports up to 8k ProRes). The only downside is, it's standalone only. No integration into any compositing software.

  4. A really fun tool. Amazing that it is now free and stand alone. That just goes to show how far we've come with 3D particle/fluid simulation systems as why would anyone want to use a 2D sprite based program when the results are so much better with current tools. But I remember playing with the Particle Illusion demo back in 2007 and was completely amazed at its ease of use and power. It was just fun to use. I actually recommended its interface to an old trueSpace developer (Primitive Itch --- anyone remember him) to change his UI for his 3D particle system (PPFX) to follow Particle Illusions UI. He reached out to PI's developer and got permission to change it. The old PI also has a built in masking tool (called blockers) to integrate particles into live action backgrounds. That no longer exists in the stand alone version (as best as I can tell) probably because there was no need for it in on-going development when it started to get integrated into compositing tools like AE. Here is an example image from the old 2007 version that I made (it took forever to do the masking): Lots of fun. Quick results...easy to use. Definitely worth the time to check-out....if only to learn from the UI design. Still no replacement for the ever amazing X-Particles, but it could be useful if you need a quick particle fix and don't want to go through all the steps in a normal 3D based system. Dave

  6. Hey guys. I have been breaking apart Ornatrix over last couple of week, and started to make some videos to get you into Ornatrix. I will be doing a video review soon to give non users a peek into what its all about. Iv been learning the tools functionalities which in itself does not mean you know how to use the tools well, just what they do. Iv put what i've learnt so far into practice and here is my first groom, much more to come. Dan

  7. This is my second groom with Ornatrix for C4D. I will describe the process, and things I could have done better during this exercise. Groom Goal: To make a hair style for a man that was very controlled, not loose and organic. Method: Manual guide placement, control maps for length, and distribution. This was my second attempt at this style the first attempt I used Guides from mesh which distributes hair evenly over the scalp. I also used a slightly tweaked map for distribution. Black = no hair White = Hair, all values between will produce more or less hair. I used a thin black line where I wanted the parting. The hair used multiple operator stacks which offer more complex styles and control. I done very little direct grooming, most of this is procedural. I did make use of the feature that allows you to directly groom the hair, this is where Ornatrix offers a significant advantage for fine tuning styles. The video below gives a overview of this project.
