Thanks for the kind words - I'll make sure the feedback is passed along to the team. I do have to give a lot of credit to the team at MoGraph.com that has been instrumental in our streaming efforts for the past couple of years and especially helpful in pulling this week together.
Your feedback is extremely valuable - we're continuing discussions on how this experience can shape our future streaming endeavors, whether as part of live events and as standalone / replacement efforts.
The presenters this week were primarily those that had already been slated and scheduled for NAB, though you're absolutely correct that this format offers more flexibility in choosing presenters. For instance Nidia wasn't available to travel to Vegas but with the format change we were able to add her to the schedule. This has definitely given us ideas on how we can leverage the format to connect you with more artists creating great work with MAXON's products.
While I see the point about the density of the presentations in a trade show context, they are incredibly popular at live events. I think the value they provide in that context to a new or interested user is first inspiration - seeing what can be done - and second often showing how easily it can be accomplished in MAXON's tools. Obviously some presentations hit that second mark more than others, and we do try to balance the 'skill level' as well as the industries and workflows of the presentations (while usually slanting a bit to the general audience of each show). Personally I often find FUI presentations to be incredible at hitting both marks - I love the presentations from Marti Romances where he shows really engaging FUI work that's appeared in feature films, and then shows how it can be achieved with a cloner and a few effectors.
I appreciate the concern that MAXON still have an opportunity to connect with the presenters - especially in my Product Manager role it was key to try to preserve that as much as possible. What most of you didn't see or get a chance to experience was that we tried (and somewhat succeeded) to recreate some of that with evening happy hours. It couldn't possibly replace the in-person opportunities we have at a show to connect with presenters, partners and general users, but it still offered an opportunity to make a closer connection and give folks an avenue for feedback. We're thinking about how we can extend that concept.
As I said, we're very much evaluating how we can use this week's experience to provide an even better experience moving forward, so please continue chiming in with details on the pros and cons from your perspective.
Cheers,
Rick
