  1. Hello everybody. My name is Daniel Ripley and have been studying Human Anatomy for many years, some from my own personal study from books, and study while attending Master classes, and intense Courses. My interest in this subject has been from many years back when I first started Clay sculpting, Drawing, and eventually Digital Sculpting in Pixologic Zbrush. Regardless if your creating realistic characters or not, having a understanding of Anatomy helps direct your design choices to find a balance between believable structures, and pushing the boundaries beyond the norm while keeping appeal in your designs. There is no end to this study, and having a understanding alone will help in your design choices, but it goes way beyond understanding bones, muscles and landmarks, you must apply this knowledge to grow as a artist and make it your own. This is a journey im on, and hope to start others off with this Introduction to Human Anatomy. Im going to keep to the correct Anatomical names, but will label them to the most common names we are all used to in every day life. After a while I will drop the labels hoping that you are familiar with the Anatomical equivalent. Use this as a resource along with your own investigations from books, videos, and other media. I have found there are discrepancies from one book to another, and one tutor to another, so would like you to not think of everything I show here as hard rules, but guides for your own explorations. There will be some Nudity but censored in the right areas. All Graphical illustrations are my own unless otherwise stated. The reference images are from www.3dsk.com. These Graphical illustrations where produced by me directly after finishing as a fully enrolled student with Scott Eaton. Since then I had been producing my own Ebook for my own study and reference. Following is just some of my reference material, while I will be writing a easier/Layman's version with these images for the public. I will be opening an advanced area of my website to members at some point in the future which will contain everything iv been putting together over the years. I will update this as I go, and keep adding to it. If anyone sees anything thats blatantly wrong please feel free to correct me, im happy to revise, learn and be corrected. Daniel.
