Diamond Pattern on Tapered Object
Late to the party on this one ! It's easy to underestimate how difficult this sort of foil top bottle is to get looking truly realistic. Not only are some creases there to accommodate the taper, but rather bigger ones are needed to portray the wire cage that the foil normally sits over and that is very hard to get right if the pattern used with it mustn't visibly distort. And for true realism there should be some effort to remove / fade / smooth out the pattern wherever it has been touched or pulled taut near the top - so there are lots and lots of disparate problems to solve for here. I've made a few of these in my time and all of them have taken far longer than initially thought ! As I recall I made simple base geometry just outside the surface of the bottle, modelled the wire cage underneath it, then subdivided the base geo for the foil to a huge degree and shrink-wrapped it over the top, followed by sculpting in the remaining wrinkles. In my cases I didn't have to maintain an even bump texture, but had I done, then tri-planar mapping is what I would have tried first, which RS can do fortunately. CBR -

Simulation Issue - Should be simple, but it isn't...
Hi Hrvoje, Thanks for getting back and apologies for not responding for ages, I didn't get any notifications. I need the first two objects to remain in veroni A because the veroni drives the sim that splits it into two pieces. Then as the sim starts initiating the fall I kinda need to start another veroni that will allow me to break the falling chunk into tinier pieces. What might be a good solution that I will try out, is perhaps baking as an alembic and then placing the alembic into a veroni...although I've never placed an alembic in an effector so I can't recall whether this will work.- MoGraph

Diamond Pattern on Tapered Object
I dont know which renderer you are using (so dont know if you have it) but this may be a good case for tri-planar mapping, some parts will be a bit blurred - but the overal effect should be fine PS see attached1 -

Diamond Pattern on Tapered Object
Hi Mash Thanks for the examples some of those look pretty good considering. I too also tried using cubic projection and got some good results. The flat one also works ok for straight on renders. Thanks again but I reckon I'll have to cheat it to a degree
