Points to circle 1.0

About This File

I don't think this one needs much explanation, the title says it all.

The script repositions selected points into a circle.

original topic:

https://www.core4d.com/ipb/forums/topic/104197-alternative-to-points-to-circle/

The script was written in Python 2.7 and will probably run on R16-R21 (not sure about S22).

For R23 the script was converted to Python 3.7. (Reported to work with S24 as well)

The download file contains both versions.

What's New in Version 1.0   See changelog

Released

Cinema4D R23 uses Python 3, while previous versions used Python 2.

Scripts created with Python 2, will thus not run on R23. I have updated the download file to include both versions. The one file ending with "R23" in the filename is obviously for R23, the other will run on previous versions.

Hi guys. First of all thank you for the plugin.  May be this is a silly question but how should I install a python plugin?

Like any other, simply put the file inside Plugin folder.

Igor is right that you put a a Python or C++ plugin into the Plugins folder, which you can locate by going to Edit > Preferences, and press the button at bottom to open the preference location.

Except that this "Points to Circle" is a Python script, not a plugin.

And scripts belong in Library > Scripts. With the Library folder being located next to the Plugins folder in your C4D preference folder.

You can put all scripts (and their icons) into the main Scripts folder, or you can arrange your scripts into subfolders.

Restart Cinema4D after copying your scripts to the appropriate location.

Additionally, you could assign a shortcut to this script, to make it available at a key press.

Thank you so much, i've been trying to find a similar script everywhere. I can confirm either version of the script works in R21.
